ROMANIAN SOURCES AND UNIVERSAL PERSPECTIVES
FINANCED BY
With six subordinate cultural institutions financed exclusively from its own budget, the Timiș County Council is one of the main suppliers of large-scale cultural projects in the western region. The Timiș County Council constantly supports projects aimed at building a lasting and sustainable legacy that all the Timiș people can benefit from.
To open the act of culture to the general public, to increase the number of tourists, and to support the HORECA industry, the Timiș County Council invested in the cultural infrastructure and revitalized many multifunctional spaces.
ORGANIZED BY
As of 2006, the Timișoara National Museum of Art has been hosted by the Baroque Palace as an independent institution, managing collections of European Fine Arts, decorative, Banat, Romanian modern, and contemporary art, as well as Corneliu Baba’s works. In 2020, the institution received the status of a national museum, thus confirming the value of these collections.
The Museum plays a central role in the Cultural Program Timișoara 2023 – European Capital of Culture by hosting the Victor Brauner and Constantin Brâncuși event exhibitions, organized in partnership with prestigious European museums such as Centre Georges Pompidou or Tate Gallery, as well as with important national organizations such as the Art Encounters Foundation and the French Institute in Romania.
ORGANIZED BY
Under the tutelage of the Ministry for European and Foreign Affairs, the French Institute in Romania (IFR) belongs to the French cultural network abroad. IFR’s mission is to promote cultural, linguistic, and academic cooperation, cooperation with institutions and representatives of civil society. Created in 2012, the Institute fulfills the missions of the French Embassy’s Cooperation and Cultural Action Service.
ORGANIZED BY
The Art Encounters Foundation, promoter, and organizer of the Art Encounters Biennial has been active since 2015 as a private cultural initiative that aims to facilitate and support contemporary art in Romania. Its mission is to stimulate dialogue, learning, research, and experimentation, offering an institutional model adapted to the needs of the local context but equally involved in contributing to the international art scene.
MAIN PARTNER
One of Romania’s most important financial institutions, which has become the main partner of the “Timișoara 2023 – European Capital of Culture” cultural program, Banca Transilvania is a faithful promoter of art and a traditional supporter of Romanian cultural projects. The institution supports financially and at the communication level some of the highlights of the TM2023 program: the Victor Brauner and Constantin Brâncuși exhibitions.
